Happy Thanksgiving

Can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving already?

This time of year we like to reflect and think of everything we are thankful for. Of course, it should come to no surprise that what we are the most thankful for is our pets. Pets are so special to us for a number of reasons. Not only are they cute, but they also make us laugh! They comfort us when we need them most and never talk back. Most importantly though they love us no matter what: They are our friend always and just want to see us happy.

Thanksgiving is a great time to celebrate with friends, family and loved ones (pets included!) Keep these helpful tips in mind to ensure your pets have a healthy & happy Thanksgiving.

  • Tom Turkey: If you are planning on giving your pet a small bite of turkey, make sure it is well cooked and boneless.
  • Let's Eat! Don't want your pet to miss out on the Thanksgiving meal? Give them a treat of their own that's easy and simple! Try this Homemade Sweet Potato Treat recipe to offer them a festive snack. Remember that plain, cooked green beans are safe to give your dogs too.
  • Avoid the Dough: Do not feed your pets raw yeast dough. It can lead to dangerous results and harm their health.
  • Travel Time: Whether you are hosting Thanksgiving this year or traveling to Grandma's house, make sure that your pet's ID tags and microchips are up to date. Always better to be safe than sorry in case of an emergency.
  • Call a Sitter: If you do leave town for the holiday weekend, make sure to call someone you trust to watch your pets for you or board them in a facility you trust. It is never a good idea to leave pets alone for days on end.
  • Be Prepared: It's easy to forget pet food during the holidays. Make sure to have enough pet food ahead of time just in case you have to leave out of town so the sitter doesn't have to go buy some for you. Order ahead of time by clicking here.
  • Exercise: Thanksgiving is a very busy day! Make time to play with your pets & take them on walks in between all your cooking and fun festivities the day brings.
  • Don't give in! Remind guests to not feed your pets table scraps from the dinner matter how cute they are!

Do you have any Thanksgiving plans? No matter how you spend the holiday take time to give thanks for your loved ones.

From our Nature's Select Family to yours,

Happy Thanksgiving!
