Happy Easter

Easter is here!

Whether you celebrate or not, there are some safety tips to keep in mind in order to protect your pets. With so many festive foods available on this holiday, there are many "people foods" to avoid when it comes to pets.

Read below to be informed and stay safe:
  • Never feed your pets chocolate or candy! According to the ASPCA, "When ingested by pets, methylxanthines can cause vomiting and diarrhea, panting, excessive thirst and urination, hyperactivity, abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures and even death."
  • If Peter Cottontail visits your house on Easter, be sure to keep raw eggs away from your dogs
  • Avoid giving your pets anything containing coconut or coconut oil.
  • Be cautious when offering your dog fruits. Citrus contains oils that can cause an upset stomach or nervous system depression in pets. Also, be sure to never allow your pet to eat raisins or grapes, as they are known to cause kidney failure.
  • If you would like to give your dog fruit, opt for unpeeled bananas, blueberries, or apples.
  • Most importantly, NEVER give your pet alcohol. If you think your pet consumed any alcohol, please call your vet and the Animal Poison Control Center immediately!

We hope the Easter Bunny brought your pet something nice!
