Pet-Friendly Halloween
Planning on taking your kids and pets trick-or-treating for the spooky holiday? Keep these important tips in mind to ensure everyone has a scary good time! Safety first.
Halloween Safety Tips
DO Plan costumes that are bright and reflective. Add reflective tape or striping to costumes and Trick-or-Treat bags for greater visibility.
DON'T use a real candle in your pumpkin (Fire hazard for kids & pets). Opt for a flameless candle instead.
DO make a wickedly good Halloween costume for your pet - Get creative.
DO Remain on well-lit streets and always use the sidewalk.
DON'T leave Halloween candy where pets can easily get to it. Chocolate and sugar can be toxic to your pet’s health.
DO make sure your pets ID tags are up to date! Pets tend to get lost on holidays like Halloween.
DON'T leave pets near the front door, but keep them away from the door or restrain pets so that they do not inadvertently jump on or accidentally bite a trick-or-treater out of fear. It is your pets home, they are just trying to protect you from strangers!
DO bring a flashlight along while Trick-or-Treating so cars and others can see you.
DO keep your dog on a leash if taken outside on October 31st. Light up leashes & collars are an ideal way to stay safe.
DON'T forget to have a scary good time.
Happy Halloween!
